Upgrading the Life-Assist website

  •  Client: Life-Assist
  • Project length: 3 years
  • Date completed: december 2025
  • Client’s goal: a full upgrade of their webapp. More specifically:
    • a visual enhancement of the look and feel of the website
    • added e-commerce functionalities
    • performance boost
    • easier to maintain code, and more scalable
  • My contribution: several sections of the frontend codebase were migrated from Knockout.js to React, while at the same time refactoring to enhance code scalability and maintainability. Marketing provided designs and functionality requirements using Adobe XD, that were used to redesign website pages accordingly, and implement new backend and frontend functionalities. Entire sections of the backend code, which reflected inconsistencies, redundancies and poor adherence to proper coding patterns, were refactored, resulting in considerable boosts to website loading times.
  • Results: a fully revamped website offering a considerably snappier and more visually appealing experience, which has significantly enhanced user experience. This led to a boost in overall customer satisfaction,  making it easier to attract new customers. In addition, thanks to an easier to maintain codebase, it will now be more cost-effective to implement more complex solutions moving forward.
